World-renowned pianist Angela Hewitt to get honorary degree at U of T

TORONTO - Acclaimed classical pianist Angela Hewitt is set to receive an honorary degree at the University of Toronto.

Regarded as one of the best Bach pianists in the world, Hewitt has lived in London, England, since the mid-1980s but still has a home in Ottawa, where she grew up.

She was named Gramophone Artist of the Year in 2006 and is an officer of the Order of Canada.

The degree is to be bestowed at a convocation ceremony set for Nov. 13.
