MDA wins $46-million contract with Canadian Space Agency for prototypes

RICHMOND, B.C. - MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX:MDA) said Friday it has won a $46-million contract from the Canadian Space Agency to develop prototypes and new robotic systems for future space missions.

The contract also includes options for an additional $4 million of prototypes.

"MDA will develop ground prototypes of the next generation robotic systems, for potential use in future Lunar and Martian orbital exploration missions, as well as in missions to service spacecraft in Earth's orbit," the company said.

About 35 per cent of MDA's roughly $1 billion in annual revenues come from its space division, also known as the information services. The rest comes from information products, which is the real estate products it provides.
