She Be Wild rides rail to win Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies race
ARCADIA, Calif. - She Be Wild has charged along the rail to win the US$2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies by three-quarters of a length.
Ridden by Julien Leparoux, She Be Wild covered 1 1-16 miles in 1:43.80 Friday at Santa Anita and paid $16.80, $9 and $5. At 7-1 odds, She Be Wild pulled off the third consecutive upset on the first day of the world championships.
Beautician returned $9.40 and $6, while Blind Luck was another head back in third and paid $3 to show as the 7-2 wagering favourite.
She Be Wild improved to 4-for-5 on synthetic surfaces.
It was trainer Wayne Catalano's second career Breeders' Cup victory, and the third for Leparoux.
Biofuel, a Woodbine-based runner trained by Reade Baker of Toronto and ridden by Eurico Rosa da Silva of Toronto, finished fourth in the field of 12.
