Extreme Electronics will open at its new location right beside Lady of the Lake and Stream ‘N’ Wood this upcoming week. Watch for advertisements and notices on the exact date. Owners Brian and Tracey Johnson, along with their employees, are looking forward to more space, higher traffic and owning their own building.

The modern, new store will feature state-of-the-art home theatres showcasing home automation, an expanded car audio department and two install bays.

Let’s Celebrate

Congratulations to two locally owned and operated niche stores in Brandon on their special anniversary celebrations.

I Want That Stuff, owned by James Ruser, recently celebrated its third anniversary.

I Want That Stuff, located at 645 10th St., is a unique collectibles store. Ruser said they are always looking for items that are niche oriented and they do indeed have a wide selection of products. They carry everything from autographed pictures to figurines, classic and new comics, video games, toys (Barbie, My Little Pony), sports memorabilia, trading cards and so much more.

Their most popular item to date has been “Magic: The Gathering” cards, which are for a card game that has been around for more than 20 years. Ruser said the response from the community has been great and he has been very pleased with his business. He has plans to expand next year with a new building.

“I want to bring in so many more products, I’ve got a lot of plans for the future, but right now I’m constrained by the space that I have. Next year we’ll have a bigger building and I’ll be able to bring in more of the products that my customers are looking for,” Ruser said.

Fun Time Pottery will also be serving up some cake to mark its fifth anniversary. The store at 535 34th St. will be celebrating with its customers on Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Nov. 9 from noon to 5 p.m. with cake, door prizes, special sales and no studio fees.

Owner Milly McKenna is proud of her pottery to paint family-run studio. She said the biggest surprise in owning her own business is how many friends she has made over the years.

“I’ve met so many people and made so many lovely friendships. I don’t really see anyone as customers anymore, they are all my friends,” McKenna said.

Fun Time Pottery can accommodate birthday parties, field trips, bachelorette parties and any other special event. They host kids camps, have a ladies night and many other themed parties. For more information, visit their website at funart.wix.com/funtime#!

Getting into the Spirit

Well, it’s time to pull down the Halloween decorations and start thinking of Christmas.

To kick off the festive spirit of the season, the Cinnamon Tree (934 Rosser Ave.) will have its annual open house tomorrow from noon to 4 p.m. Stop in for refreshments, door prizes, beautiful Christmas décor, displays and so much more. And, if you haven’t noticed, the Green Spot (1329 Rosser Ave. East) has been closed this past week (Oct. 27 through until today) for inventory and to prepare the store for Christmas Spectacular 2014.

The Green Spot will reopen on Monday with regular winter hours. Check out greenspotbrandon.com for special upcoming events and other information.
